ABOUT
A CRAVING FOR INDEPENDENCE AND PURPOSE
Founded in 2015 by Jason Hooten, ONE FLOCK Wines traces its roots through a spirited journey in beer, commercial distillation, and wine. Out of college, Jason cut his teeth at breweries like Humboldt Brewing Co., Firestone, and Newcastle as well as a co-partnership at Raff Distillery in San Francisco as a commercial distiller and operations.
He dove feet first learning the ropes in both the cellar and sales working for his father in-law at McKenzie Mueller Winery. Craving independence from both family and corporate life, he launched Prolific Beverage in 2012 with just 10 barrels of Atlas Peak Cabernet, a label called “ONE,” and not much else but grit, vision and barely two nickels to rub together. That humble beginning evolved into ONE FLOCK Wines.
ONE FLOCK WINES
HELP END CANCER ONE BOTTLE AT A TIME
WE WERE JUST TRYING TO EMPTY A TANK...
ONE FLOCK Wines didn’t start with a brand strategy, a marketing agency, or even a plan. In 2015, it was simply a clever way to offload a few hundred gallons of leftover wine from a private label project Jason Hooten of Prolific Beverage had produced for a small East Coast chain.
“I figured I’d throw together a label, call it a line extension, and talk a couple wholesalers into doing me a favor,” Jason recalls. “I wasn’t expecting a wave of reorders… or for people to actually love the stuff.” But they did. And what started as a wine clearance sale quickly turned into something far more meaningful.
After watching his wife Erin fight through four brutal years of colorectal cancer diagnoses, treatments, and setbacks, Jason decided the wine needed a purpose. Not just a label—but a cause. He reached out to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and proposed a partnership to raise money through wine sales.
The label got a facelift, too—now bearing the Blue Heron, a bird known for its grace, solitude, and strength. Just like those battling cancer: surrounded by support, yet ultimately walking their own path with quiet resilience.
80,000+ BOTTLES LATER
What began as a way to repurpose wine has become a mission that has reached thousands. More than 80,000 bottles have been sold, each one helping to fund the fight against cancer. ONE FLOCK has inspired not only our family, but also our distributors, retailers, and countless wine lovers to take part in something greater than themselves. This is more than a wine label. It is a call to action!
When you buy a bottle, you become part of the fight. Together, we can raise our glasses—and raise hope.
A SYMBOL OF RESILIENCE
The striking Blue Heron on our label isn’t just for show—it’s a symbol of grit, grace, and going at it alone when you have no choice. Painted in soft watercolors by our friend Tim Mitchell, a two-time cancer survivor who knows a thing or two about resilience. It embodies everything ONE FLOCK stands for: strength through adversity, beauty born from struggle, and hope that refuses to quit.

THE STORY IN THE BOTTLE STARTS WITH HER
“At 37, my wife Erin was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer. We had two small kids, full-time jobs, and zero idea how fast life can flip on its head. After surgery and chemo, we thought we were in the clear — but cancer doesn’t exactly honor happy endings.
Over the next four years, Erin was diagnosed four times, each one more crushing than the last. The cancer eventually spread to her lymphatic system. The doctors weren’t optimistic. In fact, their words painted a future that felt more like a countdown. But Erin? She’s not wired to quit. Through countless surgeries, brutal treatments, and moments we’d rather forget, she kept showing up — and fighting. Today, she’s cancer-free. A proud survivor. And, hands down, the toughest person I know.
That experience changed everything. It broke us, then rebuilt us with a whole new sense of purpose. That’s why we started ONE FLOCK — to create wines that give back, offer hope, and raise a glass to those in the fight.” – Jason Hooten
